Skip Smith joined MSL in 2020 serving as a Senior Consultant. He has over 30 years of leadership and managerial experience with a broad background of expertise in facilities management, clinical engineering, healthcare construction, and support services.

Prior to joining MSL, Skip was System Vice President of Physical Asset Services at Catholic Health Initiatives. In this role he was responsible for the development and ongoing leadership of service organizations to include clinical engineering, architectural services, facility management, planning, design and construction, environmental services and physical security/emergency management programs. Most recently Skip co-chaired the CommonSpirit Health merger, transformation, and integration design team.

Skip is a current member of the AHA/ASHE Healthcare Executive Leadership Council. He has served on and held leadership roles on ASHE Committees including: Annual Meeting Planning Committee, Chapter Relations and Membership Retention Committee, Communications and ASHEnet Committee, Advocacy Committee (Chair), NFPA Coordinating Committee Safety, Security, and Emergency Preparedness, AHA Certification Board CHFM Certification Program Committee, and a CHFM Item Writer. He is a two-time past president of the Colorado Association of Hospital Engineering Directors and past president of the board of directors for the Tri-State Society for Healthcare Engineering. He was also awarded the Colorado Association of Healthcare Engineers and Directors Edwin Houck Annual Award of Excellence Lifetime Achievement Award.

Skip has served as the 2011 ASHE President and has served as an ASHE Region 5 Board Representative. He is an ASHE Senior and a Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM). Skip received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Biology from The Ohio State University.
